More about Neighomi
Neighomi lives on a farm in the countryside with a very kind Upple who found her abandoned and alone in the corner of a field. Her coat was tangled and dirty, poor Neighomi was too thin for her size and looked a sorry state.
The kind farmer decided he couldn’t possibly leave her there, so after making some inquiries, it seemed no one owned Neighomi, the farmer decided to give her a home and collected her in a horsebox. After a lot of tender loving care, some special food, and a warm stable, Neighomi recovered and grew into the big, strong and beautiful Shire horse she is today.
Neighomi is kept warm in the winter with a thick woollen horse blanket and has a stable for shelter against the cold weather. She loves nothing more than pieces of carrot and sugar lumps, which the farmer and his family keep in their pockets to treat her with. The farmer’s son regularly grooms her to keep the mane and tail in good condition plaited with ribbon for Agricultural shows.
In the summer, Neighomi pulls a small cart for the farmer to deliver hay and help out with ploughing the fields of crops, or to just give the Upple children a ride. In (Book 2) “Return from Rainbow Ravine”, Neighomi helps the badgers to get the treasure back to Badger Wood, although nothing goes smoothly for the friends and one of them goes missing (Book 3) “The Missing Friend”.
